They keep getting more and more refined using OCR (Optical Character Recognition) defeating CAPTCHA (Completely Automated Public Turing test to tell Computers and Humans Apart), in other words those weird scrambled characters that need to be confirmed during registration.
These spambots are either phishing for sensitive info (passwords, usernames, credit card numbers) or simply posting to increase the number of hyperlinks associated to these websites in order to increase its search engine ranking/exposure.
One thing is for sure, I never click on the links!

I know a lot of you use it, but if anyone reading this thread notices a spam post or one that they think doesn't belong for any number of reasons (I.E. BassAddict goes off his meds and has a keyboard near his cage.. or someone posts a thread about their testicles... ) let me know by using the "Report" button right next to the "Quote" button. Depending on the skin or forum theme you have chosen, it might be an icon of a gold shield, or an exclamation mark inside a triangle.
