Muskie rod recommendation

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Muskie rod recommendation

Post by ELLIS »

My brother in law is pestering me to go Muskie fishing with him. I am planning on getting a Calcutta 400 reel but haven’t a clue about the rod. I want a two piece that can throw at least 3oz lures. Went to LeBarons and got zero help. They told me that two piece rods do not exist. I find this puzzling as most small cars will have trouble getting a seven foot rod inside… Can any of you recommend one. Thanks.

Fenwick makes a 2 piece musky trolling rod. As well, Shimano and Okuma have telescopic musky rods. I have them in stock at Paddletales.

I am far from an expert, but I use one of these:

It was given to me by a neighbor that was cleaning out his garage. I put a Penn reel on it and it works great. It is a one piece, but I find it fits fine in vehicles.
