Canadian Tire Selling Cheap Knock-Offs Again

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

CT is trying to get out of the cheap equipment market (yet they will still sell Shimano products). They are wanting to be like a Dicks or Academy is the States. Even Wal Mart in the states sometime has good stuff.

O ya you can order any rod you like through CT, they will just have the Savvy's on the shelves.

To me a knock off has the same name as the actual brand they’re copying.
Kinda like fake Oakley glasses or fake anything for that matter that can be bought at L’Encan de Masson! Lol

The PFD is clearly not a roots but a similar design…what’s wrong with that?

Are they advertising it as a Roots? I’m not sure I understand.
They are ADVERTISING the product as Roots... they are showing Roots product on the website with the Roots logo. The product reviews on the website are for the Roots product, the label on the shelf in the store is for Roots, the flyer says roots....

BUT

The actual product on the shelf is NOT roots.

There-in lies the problem.

Same issue last year with Kamik boots and I can tell you that Kamik was very pee pee off and thanked me profusely in several emails since they didn't know Canadian Tire was doing this, but they had been getting a major black-eye from customers talking about the sudden decline in Kamik quality (which as it turned out wasn't their fault!!!).

I just want to say that i think it is hilarious that Fish Hawk automatically corrected my post to say "pee pee".

I used somewhat stronger language :-)

I don't think it is just because they are out of stock. The knock-off really is a nearly perfect copy of the Roots product, so I don't think it is the type of thing that they just found laying around. Clearly it was an intentional move towards a cheaper supplier.

As your your jacket... PM sent :-)

Why go into a Crappy Tire? Just avoid the whole problem and stay out.

Fish-Hawk automatically does this because apparently, there are hundreds possibly even thousands of women and children surfing Fish-Hawk at any given time

You guys need to go the the Kemptville CT. They have re done the entire store and have a huge (for canadian tire) hunting and fishing section. Still don't carry the high end stuff but a step up from what CT has become.

And I can guarantee you that where the free chicken is you will also find a MUCH better selection of Dobyns. It Irks me somewhat that VRX promotes dealers they have opened in the last year while ignoring the dealer that brought Dobyns into Canada first.

Here's a list of their so called "pro shop" locations. I guess time will tell. It certainly makes sense for them to do it and try and compete. They already have the network and I'm sure they've studied hard on which stores to expand. All rural around here except for Orleans and that one makes sense.

Not only is the selection much better but the information and product knowledge you get from Paddletales is far superior than anything you will get from the CT clerk.
IMO, Paddletales is the reason why Dobyns will do well in Canada. (No I am not Sponsored by Paddletales)
VRX should have acknowledged Paddletales.
