Lake O King

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Lake O King

Post by moonshine »

Well even though no one took me up on the open seats, I figure that I will post the result. I drove to the Wellington boat launch last night arriving at 11pm. I settled into the cuddy and slept til 4:30am and launched. The water was calm enough that you could have been out in a canoe. I had a lot of fish tripping my down rigger releases but I finally found one that wanted to hang on. After two 600ft plus runs I managed to get it to the boat, only for it to run another 300ft. It was spent and so was I. It was quite an effort cause I had to clear the other line and handle the net and fight the salmon at the same time.

Big kudos Steve. That's a big enough undertaking for a lone guy. I'm glad the weather hung in for you. After seeing that fish now I know why you were so keen to go. What a beauty. Makes my arms sore just thinking about it lol.
I'm still amazed no one ever took you up on your offers. Must be the mid week thing.
Cheers

With all the chatter on the vhf it doesn't feel like you are alone until you get one on. Having a ticket for the Great Ontario Salmon Hunt makes the long haul worth the chance on landing a winner. 8)
