ice fishing - My first laker 23" w pics

Post by SEOO »

Got my first laker ever on sunday

Went into about 80 fow and we were jigging on bottom im fishing w/o electronics starting at 7:30-8am tried a few different things and wasnt getting bites all day although we got the pleasure of watching everyone else catching them near us and helping and older guy land a couple a bit bigger then mine

I switched to something a lot smaller a small jigging rap and 10-15 mins later at about 2:30 i get a nice bite and its got a bit of weight to it i start bringing it up.....it went for 2 runs before i got it to the hole...saw couple guys loose them so i was super careful to keep my line tight

then i iced my first ever lake trout...

Image

my buddy got skunked but went out today n caught a 12" er haha

Nice laker! When I used to fish for lakers up north, I used to start jigging on the bottom, jig 50 times, move up a few reel cranks, jig 50 times, and so on until I was jigging just under the ice. Surprising how many time you can see the lakers hit 10 feet down in 80 feet.

Keep the reports coming.

Way to go SEOO!
The fishing was good; it was the catching that was bad

Nice fish.... now just a minute while I check that photo for GPS coordinates hahaha
Fishing is a heritage we need to teach. Take a kid fishing! And take me too while you're at it.
