Alright 1 week till I make the trek to Minden Ontario for a Trout Adventure.
I have never driven that far in that direction and had a few questions.
1) Who do I trust? Google is putting the drive 1 hour shorter then my tom tom gps . Google says about 5 hours where the gps says about 6 .
2) Which way would you take? There are 2 options. Take the 41 to the 28 to 118 or I can take 60/61 to the 28 then 118.. Any advice guys?
3) Most important , once past renfrew is there any Tim Hortons?????
Thanks
Driving to Minden Advice
hey man u are in for one scenic drive if u dont get lost then it becomes a beautifull drive! The renfrew way i believe is shorter although Calabogie to Grithith then 28@Denbigh could cut a few miles + time on drypavement maybe. if u know the way up to Ompah-plevna -Buchshot Lk Rd to 41 @Denbigh & 28 is prob a half hr shorter than any other. I go to Denbigh @ 41&28 jctn from Carleton pl in a hr&half / 45 depending on rd cond.
have a great trip
oh ya timmies in bancroft big macs too!!!

Take 132/41 out of Renfrew
Turn onto 28 at Denbigh to Bancroft
Turn right at the lights in Bancroft, Tim Horton's is about 3 km out on your left
Back down to the lights and turn right onto 28 south
Turn at Cardiff onto 118 and follow to Haliburton
Take 35 out of Haliburton to Minden
Depending on the weather and if you are pulling a trailer on how long it will take.
I drive it in about 4 hours on dry pavement

Thanks for the advice guys. Hopefully no big snowstorms and should be fine.
Hopefully I will have a whack of pictures for a decent report. I have 2 goals while there. Catch tons of Lakers and see a Bancroft Elk !
How are the roads usualy kept up that way? If there has not been a snowfall in a couple of days would I assume they are clear?

John,
The roads are well kept, just have to watch in the curves for black ice that forms from warm afternoon sun to cold after the sun sets. But there are lots of guard rails to catch you if you slip.
Bancroft Elk ?
A good chance of seeing one is around McArthur's Mills area while on hwy 28. Even better chance if you turn at McArthur's Mills and go down the Mayo Lake Rd and then down the Hartsmere Rd.
