A Near Drowning at 31 Mile Lake Today.......SERIOUSLY !!!!!!

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

That place seems to be a crazy place for ice.

About 100 feet from shore... we had about 10 to 12 inches of ice. Then you go out another 25 to 35 feet from there and it is MAYBE 4 inches of ice.

There was an open spot in the ice about 2/3rds across the bay... water bubbling and percolating out onto the ice. Poop-loads of slush.

Not quite certain what happened at the launch... but what looked dry and thick ice that some of the boys parked their rigs on, either seeped water through or crack up... and one wheel was halfway submerged.

All this is to say... Be bloody careful there. That lake also is notorious for thin ice on the shore. You could have 18inches of ice in the middle of the bay and 2 inches on shore.

14 '' inches in one area.................1000' in any other direction 6 ''

Its the shoreline thats the most Dangerous ............as in four or feet from shore there is a little as 3'' or 4 '' inches of ice for whatever unknown reason

The shoreline issue where the trucks were parked could have been caused by black tires getting heated up by the sun and too many vehicles parked too close together.

If you are heading up/over to the same spot and want to park on the ice near the launch, it might be a worthwhile to drill a few holes first. If you want to park on dry land I think there was a parking area just up the hill from the launch.

No, I was fine lot's of water but not thru I guess my Escape is not as heavy as the other trucks around. I am in also, but this time I will have a breakie like Doug( I would've taken a Lumberjack special if I could've read the menu without glasses). Cause I was hungry by Noon. But I couldn't find my sandwiches in all the slush in my Fishtrap.

And guys diet a few days b4 the trip and try teh cretons with breakfast. You'll want more. If you like meat pies you will love cretons.

There were a few who wanted to get out last Sun but were unable to so I'm guessing a return trip would get another solid turnout.

The Lumberjack special wasn't on the menu. Craig ordered it "en francais". But i've downloaded the picture of it in case he can't make it out on the next run.
