A quick outing - Thursday, January 20th

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

A quick outing - Thursday, January 20th

Post by Spezza_Fan »

Hey guys,
I made it out with my buddy to our usual spot last night and drilled a bunch of holes and set up 8 tip-ups.

The bite was slow but we landed 6 eyes but only kept 4. We also caught a mooneye? That was a first for me. Out of the 4 we landed 3 one pounders and our biggest of the year as of yet at 2.2 pounds.

I missed a good one while jigging and marked a couple of fish midway through the water column on the Marcum but couldn't get them to bite. They were probably small.

The fish are still there and bitting but we're still looking for bigger ones.

Where are you setting up Spezza_Fan? DesChenes? Marina area?

Just curious.

Sounded like another good night on the river Spezza_Fan. Right on!!

Cprince, I've been fishing out of Deshchenes and around the marina quite a bit and have been having the same luck with the exception of a bunch of pike and perch mixed in. No big walleyes yet. I think the big fish go really shallow during the prime feeding time in both areas.

Tip up

I always get my big ones shallow too and very late in the day.
People often say there are no fish in those areaa but because you are fishing for big fish, the chances are far less that you are going to catch one. I have caught two really large walleye 5+ within 30 yards of breakwall at the marina.

B.T.W. I found a new spot at the bottom of jubilee, that I like.

I never got anything at the Marina but I've heard many stories of people catching some big ones though. The numbers aren't there though!

I'm sure you'll get the bigger ones eventually.
Thanks for the report.
