***IMPORTANT UPDATE***

A member drew my attention to look close at the regs... after looking again at the MRNF site they seem to have three types of trout that they distinguish from others; Lake, Splake and Char.

Everything else is just trout.

So.. no lakers or Splake. (Not that I even know what the heck Splake is!!!)

What is specifically open is:
Char and Trout.

I hope this does not impact too much... and please excuse my trout ignorance!

Splake is a cross breed of lake trout and speckle trout........ they are beautiful fish when they hold all their colors.

Hey dude!
Reading the regs it looks like trout is only open from the April 23, 2010 to September 12, 2010 unless you will have us fishing in one of the lakes that do have exceptions. There are only a couple of lakes that you can fish Trout on and it's only between December 20 and the 31st of March.

Hi Guys

There are about a dozen lakes open in zone 10 for trout fishing during the winter. The lake cprince has in mind is definately open to trout during the winter.

Char, trout April 23, 2010 to September 12, 2010
and from December 20, 2010 to March 31, 2011

What is specifically open is:
Char and Trout.
If you read the rules in french you will see that Reds, Speckles, Lakers are all Char which is open.

Rainbows however considered a trout is from the Salmon family and it also allowed.

The way I read the rules is that all species are open.?

Sorry for the added post.
I do believe that Lakers and Splake are out.
What I cannot understand is, that the trout lakes in that area
hold both lakers and speckles, and /or rainbows and lakers.
Why is one species allowed and not the other, especially when they are stocked fish.

Again I don't mean to cause confusion. :(

MRNF rules confusing? Nahhhhh.. :D
Here are the definitions straight from the regs:

Char: brook trout and Arctic char, unless otherwise indicated.

Lake trout: includes lake trout and splake trout

Trout: rainbow trout, brown trout and cutthroat trout.

So for this lake in question (wink wink) it is not otherwise specified...sooo..
Just lakers and splake aren't in season.
I was really tempted to go guys..... have fun.

What got confusing is when the MRNF used to change the name of (speckled) trout every couple of years... remember that? truite mouchetée, omble, truite, truite rouge, omble de fontaine...

Lake trout is most certainly a char. Yeah, go figure the gov't would mislead people :roll: Good fishing to you guys, can't wait to see the report.

It is really bizarre that they do not know or consider a lake trout to be a char.

Perhaps they think fisher people are incapable of accepting that lake trout are misnamed? I dont know why they do this anyways, since 85% of the population is going to call them "Toulandi.
