MUSKRAT LAKE 2011 TROUT G2G

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Just a heads up to anyone planning on stopping for minnows at Towey's in Arnprior or their River Rd location or Gourley's on hwy 132 at Renfrew.

Sat March 5th2011 is the annual Castleford Ice fishing derby held on the Ottawa River (at Castleford). Last year they had over 450 registered participants in the derby and are planning on it getting bigger this year.

Last year we had to wait in line for almost an hour to get minnows, so unless you are there bright and early, you might be better off bringing city minnow's.

End of the 1st!!! Period!!!!
I was hoping to pick up a bunch the night before from Gord or Crystal and bring them with me to the event. We will likely have some die off but dead minnows work as well.
Bring a ghetto blaster, reggae and jig!

Hey Dont worry about Minnows. I will ask Al From AL's Bait and Tackle if he can Deliver some with his truck. He has the license for Cobden lake. And hes a good guy. Let me know if you want me to do that. He is a friend of mine

I am down . Where is base camp gonna be set up? Cobden launch is a good hike to get to deep water.

Macfarlane rd or waterview? I suggest waterview
Can someone direct me to waterview?
Just a street name or land mark (Google).
I can then post the image for all to see.
Thanks,
Daner

Directions are as simple as

From Ottawa
Take 417 West, stay on hwy 17 through Cobden (appoximately 9km past Cobden
Turn right onto Waterview Rd and stay on it until you get to the lake, you will see where people have been driving onto the lake at the end of the road.

From Le Belle Province
Head to Shawville, and then to Portage Du Fort and cross over into Ontario through Chexnau to Hwy 17
Turn Right onto Hwy 17
stay on hwy 17 through Cobden (appoximately 9km past Cobden
Turn right onto Waterview Rd and stay on it until you get to the lake, you will see where people have been driving onto the lake at the end of the road.

On your map, turn right at Sheilds Crossing. This is Waterview Rd and there is no sign saying that it's Sheilds Crossing.

Waterview Rd is the black line that passes through the scale on the map. When you get there you will see shack city where everyone is jigging for lakers.

Thanks Guy and Girls, oh and Birds!

Peter is going to post a near perfect way to get there.
When, for sure before the event.

Some things to consider, please.

Do you want us (the group) to supply hot coffee and coco, hot dogs, other??? at lunch time?
We can accommodate, but we will need to know later as we get closer! Think please.

Next is Peter
