Tripleheader Ottawa River Walleye!

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Tripleheader Ottawa River Walleye!

Post by Yannick Loranger »

Well they're not big, but they are plentiful. I got out with BazFish for an afternoon walleye fish and again hit great numbers of walleye and sauger in the Rockland area.

A first for Baz - Two walleye on one pickerel rig.

How 'bout a triple header!

Had to use the timer. Sorry.

So, any takers for open seats later this week?

That's awesome hopefully tomorrow will be just as good :lol:
There is a pleasure in the pathless woods;
There is a rapture on the lonely shore;
There is society, where none intrudes;
By the deep sea, and music in its roar:
I love not man the less, but Nature more

yeah that's the dream! We'll be hitting a spot I've never been to though, but it's a well-known spot. We should do ok.

What's your walleye setup if you don't mind me asking.
I'm going to hit the larry this weekend. Walleye have been incidental catches for me this year. Mostly while dragging tubes or Senkos. Trying to decide between bottom bouncing a spinner rig or going with cranks.
There will be a report... fish or no fish.

I don't think my set-up will work on the Larry.

I'm using the good old 50 cent Canadian Tire Pickerel Rig with a 2 oz. bell sinker (there's lots of current). Great for when the walleye are concentrated like in the spring, late fall, and winter. Not a great size rig, but fantastic for getting lots of eater size fish. Also, it tends to work best in stained water and will catch just about anything that swims in the Ottawa (Got 10 species in one night last summer). The metal and bulkiness I think turns off clear water fish. Not at all a subtle presentation.

Good luck on St-Lawrence. Your tubes may not be a bad idea if you know you're on a good concentration of fish.

Great stuff guys! Awesome 2 for 1 special there Baz! :D

SeaMonster, depending on wind direction and speed on the Larry, bottom bouncing a spinner rig has always worked well for me as well as jigging the bottom.
Never really tried cranks yet. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions, maybe I can help you out.

To fisherguy33 and FowlDawg, good luck tomorrow guys. Looking forward to the next report. 8)

Around Montreal I have the advantage to hitting Ottawa river water (stained) or Larry water (clear) depending on what side I go to.

Fiish. My fishing partner got skunked the last two outings... I used all my brownie points to go deer hunting, and haven't gotten out on the boat in a while. So this time I gotta show him who's the captain. PM coming your way.

Just early Saturday morning, then I'm leaving the launch and heading straight to Arnprior to drop-off the boat for winterizing and winter storage. My boat's not insured after Nov. 15th. The week of bachelorhood ends on Sat. anyway.
