As long your trolling motor is properly sized for your boat ( and battery charged) it's excellent.

I hate mine
There were times it would go crazy and just spin out of control.
It's going into the shop over the winter. I disabled it and put a foot pedal in it's place.

When that happen jut re-boot the unit.
That takes care of the problem.
It happened to me only couple times so I still didn't figure out
what is causing this.
