Bass , Bananas , Buzzbaits ...and a Big Bad BROWN Bear !!!!

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Bass , Bananas , Buzzbaits ...and a Big Bad BROWN Bear !!!!

Post by Bass Addict »

Fishinmission Fiiish Cprince and I met up at the Lac Ste-Marie launch this morning . '' Yes , it was a little cool ''

I didn't really want to fish Ste-Marie at this time of the year...it has usually long died off by now..

Cprince wanted to say a prayer ....before heading out from the launch

Image

First stop ......Pencil Reeds.......

Image

....Topwater.......equals....Fish on ....

Craig tosses out a Pop'r , sits down and begins to eat a BANANA.........

A 4lb 7 oz Largie had other plans though

Image

Craig now thinks he's 24/7 and brings out the Buzzbait.....

At one point i was thinki9ng should have brought the shotgun..

Image

Head shot right there

Image

After moving into a small bay ......Craig says to me , quick lets get over to that Statue of Mary ........i need to pray again .

Image

There's a Bear on the Hillside looking down at us.. 8)

With the sun shining on Her back i managed to zoom in as she was about to uproot a large stump.. 8)

We fished a couple of more hours and pack it in early.....something not done very often

The plan was my wife and I were going to drive to the B 1 to witness the weigh-in ....

But settled for these two photo's

Nice work guys.

Dano and I faired off pretty well too.
Too bad about Paul being frozen, it was pretty frigid at times in the wind for sure. We took shelter in a bay, caught some fish and when we emerged, you two were gone.

I must apologize for the graininess of some of the pics. I played with the ISO when taking night shots a while back and forgot to set it back.
Here's my biggest of the day on a wacky senko, 4 Lbs 1oz...

And here is Dano's, also on a wacky senko, 4Lbs 5oz...
Image
And the EAP version
Image

After that we tried a new technique, walking the senko...

Then we took turns teaching fish new tricks. I taught my bass how to do a wheelie and a bunny hop...

So there it is, I guess it's a congrats to Craig, looks like you got the big fish of the day. Our (3) scales were giving us different readings for the same fish so who knows for sure which was right, or how it compares to the scale you guys used.
It was great meeting you guys, too bad it wasn't for longer. I'd definitely love to do it again though. Perhaps next time we can bring some warm clothes. Right Paul? :P   :D

BTW, I've been listening to some Peter Schilling. I think I might be ready for NASA soon.

Good times!

Great report. I was fishing a lake close by. Real close by. About as close as they come.

Big fish of the day for us was 3lbs 13oz. Not quite 4. Bite wasn't fantastic though. Fish here, fish there, looks like you guys got in to some nice ones!

I Paul's defense; The hill that we saw this on is a hill that I have previously seen a momma sow with her 2 cubs last year. As we were rounding a point talking about it, we saw the movement on the hill. It looked dark and it moved unlike a cow!! I also thought it was a bear until sitting at home looking at the zoomed picture.

That zoom must have been at least 10x. I could not tell with a naked eye what exactly it was.

Yup Great Report.

Like you guys have already noticed, that's no brown bear.

There are no Brown Bears in Ontario/Quebec. There are black bears that go through a color phase. I've seen some cinnamon, blonde, chocolate....well you get the picture. No Brown Bears in Quebec. Brown colored bears, yes, but they are Black Bears.
