Rock on the Jock

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Rock on the Jock

Post by Kpin »

It started innocently enough, with me calling Placide, to see how he was doing.

Left msg. Return call from Placide is, "get your butt over here."

Hit the water in the canoe, water is like glass :)

He gets a big hit and sets the hook, nails it and BOOM, leader snaps!

15 lb test line, we look @ each other and nod...knowing we'll return back to get'im. Few paddle strokes down river, we hear the water explode and splash...and the VERY distinct, chime like the jingle of spinner blades in the air...and b4 we can even decide to turn around,

another airbourne jump from the fish, attempting to shake off Placide's spinnerbait.

Maybe 15 paddles later, under the lightly falling rain, I get a big hit, and bang, another leader snapped.

Concencus between Placide and I say, given the distance and time frame, they were 2 dif but obviously impressive fish.

Impressive enough that a few casts later, my rod snapped and I thought I was doomed to be the paddling chauffeur.

With all this action and a big chunk of rod missing...can you guess the McGyverism that saved the day :?: :!: :?: :!: :?:

A plastic tube. I was actually able to cast normally and with confidence.

Nice job Placide! Now can you fix the rest of it?

Need bigger leaders me thinks.
Only one rod in the boat?
I'm never out with less than four.
