Silver Lake near Zealand Ontario

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Silver Lake near Zealand Ontario

Post by ELLIS »

My wife wants to go to an art show this weekend in Zealand (north east of Sharbot Lake). We have gone to this the past two years. I have no interest in the show but noticed that it is right beside Silver Lake. I just got a Kayak. What is the fishing like in Silver Lake? Would it be worth my while taking the kayak and fishing gear to the lake and fish while she is spending the day in Zealand?

Cheers,

Bill

Stocked with Lake Trout, open all year.
I assume it also has standard fare Bass and Pike but I've only fished it for Trout myself. Very limited success. Some good ones have come out of Silver, but they are few and far between.

Do it! its a beauty lake. I've caught smallies from shore there before and allegedly there are nice weedlines all around the lake. Its one lake I've never had a boat in before but its certainly on my bucket list.

Also please note, If you choose the art show over fishing you'll need to hand over your man card.

Let us know how you make out,

I would definitely opt for the fishing day vs the art show

I've only had the boat on the lake once and fished a couple times through the ice. There are lakers but they can be tough.

I got a bunch of little bass from the boat close to the launch and I've heard there are big ones in there.... so I think it's worth a look!

Drive past the Park entrance (heading westward) and there will be a rest stop on your right (north side of the road). There's a launch and parking there. Maybe even toilets if you're lucky/brave.

The free launch is not the best so a bigger boat may be a problem
