Great day on Mississippi.....FH derby.

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Great day on Mississippi.....FH derby.

Post by RJ »

What a turnout!

30 anglers and two young fellas made their way down to Mississippi Lake for the get-together/derby....Many people opened up seats for others and everything went off without a hitch!

The lineup...

Pre-Blastoff....

The two young lads made off like bandits courtesy of Big Jim....

Image

Image

Fishing began at 9 and ended at 3:30....the fishing was so-so...a few decent fish weighed in...no real kickers.....

The weighin process went fairly quick and painless....

Image

Paulo was proud...

Image

Alex (Seabass81's partner) took the early lead with this Smallie...

Image

24/7 and Sly had a decent pair...as did CPrince and BA...

Image

Image

Everyone had weighed in....but Birdee and I...this will take me awhile to get over......the ribbing is pretty serious at this point....

Image

Birdee bumped poor Alex off the board by an ounce for the win....

Top 5 went:

1. Birdee
2. Alex
3. Bass Addict
4. Fisherguy33
5. Fishing 24/7

Birdee's fish was landed at 3:10.....within eyesight of the ramp under some heavy mat, on a Title Shot Jig and Sweet Beaver....

We all retired to Buster's Bar and Grill for some chit chat and door prizes.....HUGE thanks go to Bennett's Bait and Tackle, Bits and Baits, Paddletales, Oziles, Orleans Boat World. Birdee and I also threw together a pile of stuff courtesy of Mann's Bait and Fin-Tech. Everyone was thrilled go home with something!

The Prize table....

Image

We had a hidden weight prize that was donated by Orleans Boat World. JimW took that home with a 2lb 15 oz Largie.

Image

The chatter at the restaurant was great and new acquaintances made...in the end.....that is what it's all about.

Thanks to all who made the day a success!

Congrat's to all, looked like a fun day. The fishing probably would have been better on the Miss. than the Ottawa .... ORWL event

I was a great day..... we caught a few fish...... no rain!!!!!....... got to see a few old fish-hawkers from the past and met some new ones.

Big thanks to the organizers.

Looking forward to the next event.... maybe fall fishing or a family ice fishing day on Constance Lake.

Again a very good day.... and I want to fish with Birdee next time :D

Looks like the event was a success. If it isn't a pain I say we get one going for the fall. Maybe I can show you guys what a real big fish looks like?

Glad to see some bass were caught. My buddy and I caught 2 pike and a perch but had to book it home early cause he got a good case of sun stroke. Had to stop in Innsiville so he could unload lunch. Thanks to all that organized this and hope to stay longer for the next one.

I am a little red like a lobster right now myself...anyone else??
Fishing isn't a matter of life and death....
It's much more important.

Thanks a bunch to RJ and Cprince for putting on this event. I really hope it becomes an annual thing. It was great to meet guys like 24/7, Bass Addict, Bradford and my partner for the day Tip-up just to name a few.

Congrats to Birdee and thanks to the sponsors for the great Shwagage.
