Salmon Advise, if you please

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Salmon Advise, if you please

Post by moonshine »

when salmon fishing, what spoons are hot right now. and would my lake trout gear be sufficient? do i need to fish with a spread?

this is what i have for gear, Okuma Magda Pro LC's with 9ft rods, downriggers, dipsys (3 sizes), Jet divers and Davis Fish seekers. Princecraft pro 169, colour finder and gps

Any pointers would be appreciated. I have holidays coming up and i plan on launching out of Port Hope marina. I would probably only go twice this year. i am hoping to not have to make any major investments to go only twice.
PM's are welcome.

thanks 8)

Salmon fishing

Hey Moonshine, how many guys you fishing with?

Hope you have riggers although dipsy's and jet diver's will do.

If it's only you and you need company, I would be glad to head out with you at some point if we can agree on a date to go. Don't mind sharing gas etc.

I have made regular trips to Port Hope over the years but am currently boatless.

I have all the spoons rods, net and everything, just in the process of looking for a new boat so I'm a land lubber right now.. .

If you already have a crew, have a great trip.

Make sure you have a blue/green Dolphin RAC spoon or two (especially if there's two of you) in the mix.

I can also send you a scan of some of the hot lures if you like.

Good luck.

Hey Moonshine

Sent you a PM. Spool a couple of reels with Flea Flicker line, if the fleas are bad they will ruin your trip. Best all around spoon is NK black with purple stripe and white on the reverse. Even use those for Lakers on inland lakes.

Good Luck
