Mountain Brookies

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Mountain Brookies

Post by moonshine »

Well I got up before day light this morning and met up with Steve (TMH). We tried for some lakers but they just weren't hungry. On my drive home I was feeling somewhat disappointed. So I decided to take a trip into the Opeongo mountains and check on one of my old fishin' spots. The drive was rough, so bad it took me 45 minutes to travel only 2 miles. When I got there the lake was just like glass.

After trying a slip bobber for about 10 minutes I picked up a small speck about 8 inches. I managed a successful release. Then i tried floating a worm off the bottom. BINGO!!! I picked up a couple 10 inchers first. they swallowed the hook so in the bag they went. in the next 30 minutes i snagged a couple of nice ones. One was full of shad flies and the other was full of small crawfish.

While I was there, 2 Otters came to check me out and thats when i realized that i forgot my camera in the truck. But I managed to snap a pic of this Beaver.

All in all, it ended up bein' a great day

Cool report and pics moonshine. Not to take anything away from your report but my partner and I had the same luck.

Went stream fishing for brookies, rainbows and browns with no trout luck and decided to hit up a small spec lake for a few hours on the way home. Turned out to be a great evening! We caught a bunch of small stockers in the 8-10'' size and one good one that was 14''. All were caught on a worm and bobber except for the bigger fella I caught fishing a worm off of the bottom :D

Thanks for sharing moonshine :)

it is a lake but it is more like the size of a big pond, maybe 10 acres in size or so
