Business Trip/Fishing Trip
Sorry for the late report here, but I had a chance to fish with some old friends from Fishhawk in mid-May and am just getting around to posting what turned out to be an incredible weekend for me. As some of you'll remember I moved from the Ottawa area back to the States almost two years ago now. I still get a chance to take a business trip or two each year back to the area and the first person I call is my good buddy Slop (aka Grant) to wet a line. I also was able to hook up with FHer Carl, Fatluke, and Disco Lund Dan for the weekend.
So I finished work as fast as I could Friday afternoon and taxied out to Grant's place where we hooked up the disco Lund and headed for a local lake to toss some jigs.
Here's Luke with the nicest Eye of the day and the rest of us with a fish or two:
On Saturday we headed North to, hopefully, tangle with some Lakers and Whitefish. The weather prediction for high-winds scared us off from getting an early start, but the prediction fizzled and the day was much calmer than forecasted. You know it's going to be a good day when your first cast lands a fish and here's the first catch-and-release fish of the day:
Followed up by a nice fish from Grant:
And a couple more for show:
Big fish of the day went to Grant and here's a pic of the rod doubled over and the nice catch we released:
All in all a very fine weekend which I thoroughly enjoyed again being with some great fishing friends. A note to the residents of Ontario/Quebec...never take for granted the beautiful and abundant waters you have in your backyard ! I certainly enjoyed them again and the friends I haven't seen for some time. I look forward to wetting a line with them again...soon
