With Jocos request........Lakers on the Jig

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

With Jocos request........Lakers on the Jig

Post by fatluke »

The wife and I had planned to get some things done around the house this weekend, but I said there's no way I'm not fishing for at least half a day this weekend. I said no worries honey, we can kill two birds with one stone.

"What do you mean?"

"We can go visit Corey and Jaime and their new born Addison..........and Corey and I can slide out for a few hours of laker fishing in the morning."

Perfect. The wives can admire the baby, the dogs can play, and the boys will hit the lake. Off we went Friday night. Saturday morning started off with a reminder of what we did the night before. Drank beer....and rum.. and caesers..... A quick decision was made to slam a pint, and rid the shakes. We wet out whistles and off we went.

Hit the water by 7:30 and less than 2 minutes in, I landed the first and biggest of the day (discoloured one in the first photo) at 3.5 lbs. We continued to work this area for another 30 minutes with only one other bite. Time to move. Get to the second spot, less than 5 minutes and I boat the second one, at 2.5 lbs (second fish in first photo). 10 minutes later, I hook into the 3rd of the morning. Another 2.5lber over the gunnel (Second photo has the pair of "quarters".

"Keep this up, and we'll be home in no time" Corey says to me, still without a hit yet.

5 minutes later and I lost the 4th one half way up from bottom. We happy left the lake at 10:30 am with 3 very healthy lakers.

All fish came on a secret jig head, and a secret plastic bait. If you've fished me (cough cough.... Grant... cough).... You'll know what I was using.

Next weekend has me in Montreal for a bachelor party, but I'll be out on the water chasing trout with the one and only S.M.05. I also made it out last weekend with a couple hawkers..........and I'm still waiting to read that report............ hint hint

Cheers

Nice work Luke...Lake must be doing well with those clones in it. What would you say...2-3 yr stockers??? Or is this a natural population of them in this lake??
Fishing isn't a matter of life and death....
It's much more important.

The pair was actually 3 fish Andrew..... Thanks for NOT reading my report.....

The three of them made the BBQ this time, not the smoker. The three fish made a nice meal for 7 of us.
