Unreal...the night I don't have a camera

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Unreal...the night I don't have a camera

Post by Yannick Loranger »

6.2 lbs Largemouth!!! :o albeit tainted because it is obviously OOS. Brought it in as fast as my 65lbs test line and heavy action rod would let me, the scale was being prepared while I was still fighting the fish. The hook was out, the fish weighed and released in a matter of a few seconds.
As if that wasn't enough, as we're jigging up some walleye near Rockland, we see something travelling against the current just upstream from us. It's almost time to go, so we pack and go investigate, and would you believe a MOOSE is swimming in the middle of the Ottawa River maybe 1/2 mile downstream from the boat launch.
The pike fishing was great, we got about a dozen in an hour, had a few misses too. The walleye not so great, we got 2 (16" and 13") within the first 1/2 hour then nothing but a little sauger and perch until the moose sighting.
It's shaping up to be an interesting season.

Would like to have see that. Definitely hit that spot again when bass is open and see if you can catch it again. Only next time get a picture to go with the story.
Nice work man. Making me feel a sick day coming on... *cough* *cough*

I saw that bass yesterday when we were fishing... but I pulled my lure (My super secret lure) out of his reach just in the nick of time.

I should have warned you about him!!

You can't take pictures of OOS fish anyway. As much as it sucks... 'dems da rulez...

How big were the pike tonight? And did you find the bugger that stole my top water?

No.............You can't TAKE pics of OOS fish. We've all been there before and taking pictures does not fit into immediate release.

Must of been a nice surprise but you are getting the pike for sure congrats.

So next thing you will compare rape to speeding to illegal fishing etc etc.

There is a huge difference between them all and this is a fishing board afterall so I think you can go and discuss driving infractions on a driving board.

No one should encourage illegal actions while fishing period. We all have obligations to protect out fisheries so that our kids can enjoy it as much as we get too.

I don't like RJ's comparrison either....there's been lots of people fined for doing 90 in and 80, but no record of a single charge ever for a fisherman taking a picture of a fish. lol

I know it's been said before, but I still laugh that someone like TM will define "immediate release" one way for OOS fish, but use a second defination when it comes to undersize/slot fish. lol

So much could have been avoided if you said "I'm guessing around 6lbs"....

Either way, sounds like it was a fun day!
