helping out our military staff in the area

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

helping out our military staff in the area

Post by barblessbob »

i'd like to give an open invitation to all military staff , to a day of fishing
on the Ottawa river

i will take you out for a day of musky fishing , i'm unable to offer bass due to my lack of knowledge and gear for those tiny little , pesky critters

i'm hoping others can jump on board to offer their skills be it walleye/bass crappy etc, any and all the musky/bass/trout ....clubs in the area

this is not my idea
i saw this a while ago south of the border , called OPERATION MUSKY
this offer is the best i can do due to my "don't know how to organize a thing "syndrum

if any one in Fish -hawk land can do it great,
again this is to take these brave men/women out for a day of fishing

you can PM me and i'm free that day great , which is most wkends
i have all the gear , room for two people besides me

this is my small thanks to you for doing the job you do

This is great to see! My son did his tours in Afgahnistan and I am lucky enough to be able to take him fishing anytime he wants. Not to put a damper on this , this is great but Operation Muskie is open to all Military peronel, US and Canada. Wouldn't it be great if we could get something like this organized up here.
Now I'm not in the Ottawa area but I could certainly take 3 or 4 down here on St Clair.

Great idea guys and I know that it will be well appreciated. I just retired last year (28 years) and over the winter I’ve taken guys from my old shop out on the ice a few times and they had a great time catching BOQ walleye. A great trip Muskie fishing would really make their day for sure. I was also invited up to Kinston in the spring by EvesR for a day of Trout fishing so it’s nice to see invitations being offered. Keep the offers going and you’ll be surprised how it catches on.

i would like this open to all military regardless of which passport they hold

if they are in town and a boat is available they get a ride

not sure how to organize this, actually i have no clue or skills in that department

if bobber can set up spot on the site for boats to register and for personnel to register that might be a start
if the local clubs do the same again a start

i have only a 1 finger with computer skill and it is limited at best
i have difficulty using the photocopier at work, my finger has not learnt which button to press

Oh man........I'm getting goose bumps here. THIS IDEA ROCKS!!!!

I don't want to speak for bobber here, but it could be something like Fish-Hawk's Military Appreciation Fishing Day.

If I have the time off I'm there.

Let's not forget about the kids of those actively deployed in harms way.

people
i know the people on the site are going to be more then willing to take people out

how do we go about getting this somewhat organized?????
i have no clue
it takes me 15 min just to get my email
i too have a willing boat complete with rods and tackle but how can i fill that seat with a military personnel and family??

if we can get a "link" (?) for fish hawkers and military people to register
that would be a start
but my one keyboard finger and my lack of bytes in the brain do not allow me to even start

if any one has a way to get this started or has a better idea please jump right in there
my feelings won't be hurt
i just want to take these people out fishing

any ideas??? :D

how do you plan to get the military personel? is there somewhere this could be posted that they would have the ability to see it and link to FH to set something up??

This really just needs some coordination.

available boaters and dates
available military and dates

Match them up and put them in contact with each other.

It just gets MORE complicated of you're trying to do this all on ONE specific date/location

and no, I'm not volunteering :) (sorry i would, but already have a lot on the go)

Great idea . I would be willing to take someone out in my boat for the day.

The question I have is if we are promoting this to our troops will we need special insurance or would our regular non commercial insurance suffice?

The Ottawa Valley South Bassmasters (OVSB) has planned a day for the military as part of our club activities.

I believe we have 12 boats set up to take our soldiers for a day of fishing. We have been working on this for several months.

This is a great idea whether part of a club or not.
