Last couple weekends......

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Last couple weekends......

Post by bradford2 »

Well things are still rolling right along this ice season. Spent the majority of the last two weekends on the ice..... something about trying to get my fun in while I can comes to mind :D

Last weekend was Slabs on Saturday and Smallies on Sunday. It has a nice ring......

This weekend was Lakers and Smallies. Gotta say the weather yesterday and today was purely unreal for the first week of March. No jacket required 8)

Anyway.....

Found some good sized crappie up shallow...... Normally I'm a small spoon kindof guy but this day they would have none of that. Small baits were the ticket and you had to have a spring to detect the bites. I ended up fishing a very small pink/white ratso for the entire day.

The smallies this time of year can be a real hoot. I've teamed up with a few buddies and also got my sister in law in on the action. Her first ever time ice fishing and loved every minute of it.

And saving the best for last..... I really love fishing for lakers. These fish were kind enough to come out and play.

Lakers are sick. The big one chased the bait 40 feet.... twice... before it finally hit. Huge addrenalin rush watching that happen on the vex....

I'll admit I'm going to be a bit sad when I wake up tomorrow and realize it's Monday...... I'm enjoying my weekends a lot :)

A spectacular report, from start to finish. You've got your fish mojo ON.

Good job figuring out the crappies....beautiful smallies.....and that laker is a show stopper.

Nice weekends, indeed!

Brad,

Nice multi-species report for sure. Love the idea of the pink and white ratsotails finessed under a spring bobber :D ! I hope you didn't get a sunburn from those conditions..made that mistake once on a bright March day....never want to experience that feeling again  .
