Truck/car rental (with trailer hitch)

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Truck/car rental (with trailer hitch)

Post by Grey_Thunder »

Does anyone know of a place to rent a pick-up or SUV that has a trailer hitch?

Uhaul seems to rent pick-ups but they charge an arm & leg for high-km usage...

Most companies rent pick ups with hitches, check your insurance though as to wheter you are covered on the truck for towing. You may have to buy a rider and a class 4 hitch

Try Enterprise Rent-A-Car. Some of them rent trucks, vans and SUVs.

"Rent a Wreck" now under the banner of Ottawa Car Rentals has trucks and I know that some used to have hitches. Usually cheaper than normal rentals because the vehicles are a little older (but not wrecks!!)

Good luck, Crankbait

Most places won't allow you to tow with their vehicule. We got stuck in Sudbury last year coming back from a hunting trip and no rental company will let you tow even if they have a hitch on them. It's liability insurance for them.

You can possibly get one with a hitch but don't tell them you're towing cause they won't rent it to you. If you do it this way, you're not insured for either the truck or the stuff you're towing. I'd be careful in towing with a rental.

Good luck finding something.
