Tuesday Bass Report

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Tuesday Bass Report

Post by Seabass81 »

Well its about time I actually post a report. This past tuesday I had the day off and decided to head up to the Renfrew area for a day of bass'in.

I gave Nodie a call and he was more then happy to tag along.

Now I have family on this lake and it is normal to catch 100 bass in a day. Most are small but there is the odd lunker hiding in the shadows. This lake is gin clear and is shaped like a crater. The weeds still grow 30 feet down and stretch 15 feet upwards.....

We left Ottawa at 6:30 am. According to the weatherman rain all day, although the thought crossed my mind to cancel and fish closer to home ,I decided that it would be worth the trip and cold rain.

We arrived around 8:30 and was quickly in the water. It was obvious that today was gonna be slow considering we where only at 8 bass after our first half hour of fishing (should have had 15 by now).

We chucked mostly senko's and dingers rigged weedless ad weightless. Lots of small bass hanging on the ledges. Here is a decent fish landed by Nodie.

This was about average for the day. Within the last hour we where fishing a shallow area that had a steep drop into long weeds. Oliver managed this 3lber. This was probably the most perfect looking bass I had ever seen.

A few more small fish and our count was at 26 bass. We had given ourselves another 15 minutes before calling it a day when we decided to re-work a bay that we had seen a lunker in that morning. Just as our efforts where looking futile I get a twitch on my 5" junebug dinger . I set the hook and the fight is on. I see this fish 7 feet under water and it looks massive ! My heart is pumping and we finnaly land her.

Image

This was the longest bass I had ever seen. Unfortunatly it was also the skinniest . Upon further inspection we noticed it was blind in 1 eye which would explain why it was so thin. Probably had alot of trouble getting a good meal. I honestly think this fish would have been 5.7 if it was healthy but according to the scale she was only 4.2 lbs still a toad in my books.

Yes I know I am holding the fish away from me slightly, but not on purpose.

We decided to end the day with that fish and pack her in. 27 bass in a half day, darn cold front

Now that's a good fish John! It really does look bigger than the weight in the details. Tues was a tough day to fish...although fish were active, they were scattered. Lake looks very nice, so do those docks in the backround :)

Nice fish, Nodie must have been sharing tips he picked up at the pro-am.

You couldn't possibly have done that by yourself.

I know, next time you're locking the gate.

Great bass and a great report. With 2 eyes it would probably have been a nickle.
