Calabogie report

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Calabogie report

Post by Ohridska Pastrmka »

Hi Folks,

Found Shiner and other lakes around solid frozen with 2 inches of ice closer to shore and probably good 10 inches in the middle of the lake.
Back roads aren't snow-free yet but it is getting better.
Next weekend may look better but my advise is to wait at least 2 more weeks.
Guys, hang in there!

Cheers people,

At this time of the year, no way....stay away from ice.
As I said you won't be waiting much longer, maybe a week or two depends on the weather temperatures.

Think I might try to take a run up there this weekend. I have a feeling the ice is gone :?

Anyone else thinking of going up this weekend?

i remember 2 years ago i was fishing in the calabogie hills and went up with ice gear and canoe, just incase. we went up to the lake that weekend and we were fishing on ice. then the same thing the following weekend, canoe and ice gear, just incase. we got there the lake was completly open. didn't mark a fish, didn't see any risers. but about 1 hour before we left we saw a school of 15+ brookies(over a pound each), swim right beside the canoe without seeing us. too cool!! we spent one 30 minutes anchored in 10 feet of water casting worms to these guys.

straight into the oven!! just to give you an idea. the pan they are in is a the turkey pan my mother used last xmas to cook a 27 pound turkey.
