Beauty of a Walleye - Ottawa River report

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Beauty of a Walleye - Ottawa River report

Post by OBD »

What a nice day it was today! Rico and I decided to go out there chasing walleyes, and we're glad we did!! Started out drilling countless numbers of hole looking for the key depth. 5, 10, 15 FOW with weeds and still didnt find the key spot. On our last breath, we found it and set up the Fishtrap Guide.

Flashers in the hole, spoons on the bottom and ready to go 8) We got into a few nice ones after moving around until Rico marked this huge red line.

"Check this out!" he says. Took a glimpse over his flasher and saw a real big red line and knew it was a quality fish.

The fish quickly bit Rico's minnow head, and came over on my side and smacked the Lindy Rattl n' flyer spoon. FISH ON!! Felt like a ton of bricks  Brought him up to the hole only to see the biggest walleye head I've ever seen through an ice hole! After a quick pull, he was landed

PB eye through the ice (24" measured)

Few photos and back in the hole he went, hoping another FHer will have the thrill to fight it one day

We managed to catch a few other little guys before packing up to head home with a big smile on our faces! What a day!
