I don't see why 13 inch baits or even 15 inchers would'nt catch fish.
The monster that was caught out of the Larry recently by Dale MacNair was caught on a 10 inch Jake.

i guess i missed something again.
in reality it is up to the fisherman. if you have confidence in a special lure, im sure it would get more water time.. here on st clair normally guys run baits 6 inches and catch many 50 inchers. in fall some upsize to larger lures. it really depends on what piggies want. straight baits, joints, color, speeds, depths, barometer, wave action, and the list goes on.
