I will admit to switching stations when a book is being read...or a cello is humming through my nerves. Just kidding about the cello - its a beautiful instrument but I'll surf through the Ottawa Stations in search of Floyd, Tom Petty, Allman Brothers or other classic stuff instead of the cello or a book being read.

Pre-taped? We're going to be live as a sucker before the huge CHAWMP! Do you think we should warn about the prudent use of a seven second delay?Cancatchbass wrote:I listened to CBC Radio 1 just once.
And that was because I was on (pre-taped) and they paid me.

You got paid, CCB? I'm scared to ask if parking is provided for guests of The Show! I could sure use one of those goblets though.

Ever since I got back from working in Salt lake City. I listen to CBC most of the time, except when they really get in to some very weird music (e.g. New Guniea throat warbling) or some boring discussion (e.g. religion or the mating rituals of east nairobi dung beetle).
You really don't know how much you miss Canada until you've worked elsewhere, and CBC radio really drives it home. There I 've said.

Hawk-
You're going to go live?
Good luck.
Seriously though, even though I was pre-taping, I found it amazing, sitting in the studio with all the technicians around, mic and headphones and all, just how quick the nerves kicked in.
I had to do three takes.

p.s.- I only got $125.00. CBC is not too loose with the purse-strings.
Good luck.

As Markus asked, is there any way to "patch it through" for us to listen to via FH.Net?? That would be awesome. Can one of you "extra large cerebral capacity" computer wizards manage that for computer eejits like me????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

PS: I occasionally tune in to NPR (Nat'l Public Radio) which I believe is like your CBC. Some times I need to get a break from all the gloom & doom news, as I call it, but it's got some interesting programs.

HA!
Would you believe it if I told you I was reading my homework on the National CBC network?
It's true- I took creative and freelance writing courses for a couple of years at a nearby college.
I figured if I was going to do any writing, I wanted to be paid. S-o-o-o-o, I tailored all my homework assignments to two books I started on, with the intention of selling each chapter as I finished it.
Ended up making a few thousand selling my homework! The CBC piece was from my work-in-progress (still ) Outstanding in His Field. The piece I have in Chicken Soup for the Nature Lover's Soul (just released) was also a homework assignment (different book).
U.S. publishers pay better.

I sleep on my way to and from work. One of the advantages of taking the bus, I keep telling myself.
The only time I listen to CBC radio is when I happen to catch a ride with my friends and they have it on. They lock the doors and turn it on full blast, knowing it'll drive me nuts.
I'll mark the date on my calendar, set up a reminder on my computer, set my watch alarm, get new batteries for my mini pocket-rocket fm radio and tune you in!
