small remote lakes

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

small remote lakes

Post by Dirtbag »

Hello all, while spending a week near Calabogie and fishing 3 or 4 of the bigger lakes I will have access to a few ATV's , we would like to try a little trip to some of the smaller lakes that hold fish. Can anyone tell me anything about any of the following small lakes?

Nichols Lake
Napier Lake
Hollinger Lake
Mann Lake
Big Mud Lake
Darling Long Lake
Raycroft Lake
Peterwhite Lake
Limestone Lake

Do any of these hold bass or pike?

Thanks,
Dirtbag

My understanding is that small lakes are primarily trout lakes, though I know of one that is supposed to have large walleye as well. If they have bass/pike (which a few do) it is the result of irresponsible anglers that have introduced the fish into the lakes. While I love to fish for bass, the introduction of bass to a trout lake will pretty much ruin it as a trout lake.

If you want to harvest some of the bass from Limestone feel free. There are some pike in Shiner that could use some attention as well. :-)
