Netman extraordinare...fishin the junk!

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Netman extraordinare...fishin the junk!

Post by slop »

Conditions were perfect for a little toothy critter fishin this AM  I even brought my net in case i landed the big one!(never knew i even owned a net) I rigged the net with an extension handle to get a better reach as to not blow the trophy catch.

The target species

Image

The beast hit like a ton of bricks and was snarling all the way to the net!

Image

And the obligatory release shot to give another angler the same thrill one day

Image

Off to Toronto for meetings for a few days then it's 4 days of REAL fishin'

Later!

How much did he weigh?? looked pretty chunky from the photo considering you were holding him way out for the photo...wish my arms were that long, could have helped for some of the fish I have caught this year.

BIG JIM...checking the dumpsters in Brockville...

What sub species is that from??? Did you use a top water bait or the good ole stink bait  ...You should get a replica made of that beauty.

Hmm.. hard to fillet, and probably very bad taste..
Good that you released him.

Would probably make a good musky bait tough!

Should have took it to Toronto with you - I hear they LIKE the darned things down there. I read a story last year about some abandoned building that had an infestation of coons, and the owner was not allowed to kill them. They had to be live-trapped and released in some ravine, where of course they would just become a pest for people with houses in that area. Destructive little beggars, they are.

BTW I have had sweet and sour racoon a few times at wild game dinners, and it is delicious. But those coons that we ate had been shot by coon hunters at night with coon hounds, not trapped out of a dumpster............

Anton88: I know the Almonte Fish & Game club do a dinner once or twice a year as well as the Arnprior F&GC. I could find the dates for you if you like.

back to Alleycat.........

a REAL man would have beaten him with a baseball bat. Coons and live release should not be in the same sentence, except maybe in Toronto....
