ice conditions - calabogie area

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

ice conditions - calabogie area

Post by YakAttack »

Can anybody give me an idea about what the ice is like in the lakes around calabogie? Not for ice fishing, but for soft water.

I want to go for some shallow lake trout as soon as ice is out....anybody else?

thanks

Try this e-mail: info@calabogielodge.com or 613-752-2676. Owners of the lodge up that way, they should let ya know.

If lodge is open yet, i might go up this weekend to check it out myself and i'll let you know.

thanks ShotgunRiderBob. I sent an email, and got this response:

Hello Scott,

It appears that it may be closer towards the end of April before the ice will be moving out, the shore is just starting to open.

Sincerely,

Reservations

Soon the ice will be gone on Calabogie Lake. Probably in a few weeks there won't be anymore ice there so anyone can go fishing there but you can only fish for the fish in season at the time.

If you're caught with an out of season fish, you can be fined so its best not to fish for out of season fish.

Most years I'm up there 3rd weekend in April and there is no ice. Usually the Sens have just been eliminated from the playoffs

This year I'm hoping that the ice will be out by the April 14-15 weekend but we'll have to see if the weather co-operates. If we stay above freezing overnight for the next week and a half and get a few days above 10 degrees I believe the water will be open.
