Ice Fishing Spots

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Ice Fishing Spots

Post by -Smitty- »

Not that people are looking to give away their great ice fishing spots, but i'm looking to find a couple places to go that are close by. I live in Peterborough, so although there is water all around me, I can't fish it in the winter. Just wondering if people know of lake nearby that can be fished in the winter....

thanks

The best icefishing spots are the ones that have holes.

Ice Fishing near Peterborough

Post by Seaweed »

A lot of people fish Scugog and it isn't that far from you.

There are several lakes North of Peterborough that get fished. Try the other fishing discussion boards and do some searching there for other lakes.

Just a thought but would'nt the Kawarthas be open to icefishing? Lakes like Buckhorn, Pigeon and Stoney etc. I don't recall the MNR closing any regions to icefishing like they do here in Quebec.

I would check the regs.

Jack Lake about 30 minutes north of Peterborough in Apsley has good crappie fishing through the ice. There are walleye too but they are kind of a rarity.

Percy Reach has good ice fishing as well, I'm told. It's probably 45 minutes away.

Right now it looks like you'll be driving to Alaska if you want decent ice fishing this year though.
