Big, beautiful golden fighting fish report - pics.

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Big, beautiful golden fighting fish report - pics.

Carp-time to pull out the gear

The above bolded words was the former title to this report but it got no responses and few reads. I think we have Carp discrimination going on here at the board.

----
----

I haven't been out for a fish for about a month. Couldn't wait on others to fish with so went solo. Thought I should go out to my old carp haunts and check to see what the action was like this year. Hit paydirt immediatly and had action on my rod even before I had time to set it on the ground. That quick strike happened all evening, even with the "thhhhwhop" of the 4 ounce weight diving through the surface. The action was steady and fast.

You know...you can lip larger carp. Probably the biggest one of the evening.

Hard to predict when that darn flash will go. :D

An untouched pic of the evening sky.

Very painterly...hey, what do you guys think? Say Bourdin circa 1885? ;)
...anything to bend the rod

Scuro,

I never caught a carp either, but I know they put up a great tussle.

Nice night fishin'!

Thanks, Dad, for taking me fishing when I was a kid.

I just got back from long sault a few hours ago. SKUNKED!!!! Not even a nibble all day!
The worst part is that the English guys fishing about 50 feet away kept getting one after the other. I don't understand why. We were chumming the area just like they were, and we used boilies just like they did. I'm puzzled and a little upset..but hopefully I'll be back up next weekend.

Nope, can't say as I've ever tried that spot for carp. I live about 5 mins away though, so I'll give it a go this weekend. Do you get them right under the dam in the fast water, or further down river?
