Went Carping down to Long Sault this last Saturday. First stop was the Long Sault Motel where Jeff Vaughan http://www.canadiancarpclub.on.ca
loaded us up with boilies, weights etc. After chumming the waters with banana and tuti-fruiti flavored boiles we settled down to enjoy the weather.

We hooked into 4 carp, one broke my line (25 lb. test leader), one got off just as it was getting close but we landed two nice carp, 16 lbs. and 19 lbs. It was definitely worth the weight.

On the way home we had to stop at Tim Hortons, we had a strange cravings for a banana and fruit explosion muffins. Go figure.

Nice carp, looks like you had a good time. I've had no luck with carp, might try boilies next time.

Clown Worship and I were at Long Sault about a month ago and there were 3 english gentlemen who obviously had been there a while carp fishing around the clock literally. They had alot of sucess. The biggest was 37lbs. The equiptment was something else. Electric alarms and cool looking stands really interesting.

Those are some beauty carp. Good work! Where is Long Sault?

It's between Morisburg and Cornwall on the St. Lawrence (just outside of Ingleside.) Part of the St. Lawrence parks commision, the site we camped on and several others had access to the water for shore fishing, (which is what the totally rigged out English guys were doing) and they were huge, (the campsites not the English guys.) Boat launch literally within a stone's throw. We will defininitely be heading back there sometime soon.
Badger caught this nice pike there too.

I fish around the Long Sault area alot to right on the Long Sault parkway theres all the carp spot and beside the causeway bridges theres some good spot for walleyes especially during the evening, then theres some nice pike like Badger caught and its a really good spot for smallmouths bass with some largemouths as well and theres the odds sheapsheads. On the spring its good for perch and bullheads to. As for the carp I never tried them but I will in the futur. Very good area to fish and very nice place as well.

Not sure which is meaner and uglier, me or the pike. That was a sweet fish though. We definitely should head back there and maybe it wont be raining and freezing this time.

Just an afterthought, there were some scuba divers near where we were fishing for carp. The came up to the surface and all were yelling and screaming. When they finally came ashore I asked them what all the excitement was about. They said that letting the current carry them down from one of the small bridges leading into the park, they swam among hundreds of huge carp, and held their arms way out! They said they scuba quite a bit and have never seen anything like that before, so for me, look for current past a bridge, where it starts to slow down. You need a 10 foot rod to cast the 150 yards out there, but reachable.

Their equipment boggles the mind Badger. Guys I spoke to come over 3 times a year, had a couple of suitcases full of "stuff", and said they had left the best stuff at home...........

Hi Tony,

Sorry it has taken so long to reply. Can you believe I have only just managed to get access to the site, and even then only because my son came over from England.

Fishing is still good here, I had new guys over from the Uk today, I had two fish while they were setting up their tackle, and then one had a take before he could even get the rod in the water, and the other had a 21 first cast.

But then......the heavens opened and you can guess the rest (god bless Grumpies sports bar)
