Hawkesbury on the Ottawa

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Hawkesbury on the Ottawa

Post by yrral »

If I took a week long fishing trip to the Ottawa River in the Hawkesbury area, can anyone recommend a cottage camp, housekeeping cottages or other accomodations in that area? There would be perhaps as many as nine of us. It would also be helpful to have marina information so as to make arrangements for boats. Thanks much.

81 hits ?? you'd think some one would reply!!!

Hawksbury is a small town with an inter- provincial bridge to Quebec.
On the Ontario side I only know of one marina , but there are several boat launches.
I don't know if they rent boats or not !

As for accommodations you might try to Google hawksbury to see their tourism page. I can't imagine they wouldn't have cottage rentals by the dam.

If that doesn't work try to find the classified adds for the local paper and you might find something private.

Or as another option goto tourism Ontario you might get a hit there.

If you don't have any luck let me know (my wife grew up there) I might be able to dig a little deeper for you

Good luck

Hey,

Hawkesbury is my home town, so small world Matt...

Anyways, yrral send me a PM if you like and we can talk some more.

There are a couple hotels, and quite a few cottages mainly in L'Orignal... depends what you want. There is also a campground not far away.

Like I said, send me a pm, and we can chat...

Unless you like camping or staying in a Motel miles away from the river you don't want to come to Hawkesbury. I've been guiding up here for over 6 years and only found one cottage for rent of ether side of the river. There atcually is a nice Provincial Park on the Ontario/Quebec border, I believe it is called Champlain. As for boats you're out of luck, the only thing you may find are old 12 footers with a 9.9 on the back.

My wife is also from Hawkesbury and we now live in Hammond. :-)

I'd like to know where those cottages are ( I'm always looking for some ). Especially the ones that cater to 9 anglers.

The chateau would only be $1.5K+ per night for 9 persons and thats lodgin only meel can double that.

Same thing with the B&B didn't know any could handle 9 persons.

BTW Montebello is some 15 miles from Hawkesbury. A heck of a long ride even in calm conditions.

If you are not set on hawkesbury check out nangor resort in westmeath. Great pike bass and walleye fishing and cheap too. 180$ dollars a night for 8 people, add 10$ dollars extra for each person over 8. All you need to bring is towels and food. There is resteraunt right there and they do rent boats. After august the price drops. check out www.nangorresort.com
