Trout'n - Nov 3rd - morning

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Trout'n - Nov 3rd - morning

Post by Markus »

Got out for a solo morning go at the trout. I gotta admit, I miss having Jammer with me in the mornings....could have used his help today. Gotta get off those night shifts buddy.

Lots off critters were scurrying around the road and ditches, so I knew that was a good sign the fish would be active. I got set up in the dark and right of the hop I landed 2 bullheads. Around 5:30am I had my first bow on, just a small shaker. Then after the sun came up, I landed a second shaker.

7:30 came and it was time to head to work. I worked the presentation back to me and didn't a third fish hit...hard. Finally I had a good fish on! I played him for a while. After losing a big fish earlier in the week, I went with a more cautious and slow approach.

I had him beat and on his side at my feet. A beautiful 7-8lb male brown. I guided him to a nice landing area and with one last tail thrash he came unpinned and slowly swam off. I nearly puked I was so disgusted. :? Then I noticed my hook. No hook, but a shaft. I'm using 5lb fluro leader and the hook breaks???

Back at it in the am. I need a lift a good fish, these shakers aren't cutting it!

Nice fish!

I see that you're using egg sucking leach pattern, eh?

:) let me know if you need some company this weekend Mark... The weather looks crummy but the creeks should do something.

Legend, my better half is away this weekend with her shopping friends doing their christmas shopping/wine guzzling get together, so I have my 2 rodents with me. Lets try to get out soon though, I'd really like that.

When fishing with Roe, I use #12 Gammies, I broke off the last time out with Jammer and I was out of hooks. He uses the Daichi brand. I asked him to loan me a #12 and he gave me one. This was the hook that broke.....and after talking with him this morning, I learned he only had #12 eagle claws. :? We both know these are junk, but I asked for a #12 and that's all he had.

I'm restocked with Gammies again.

Born to Pin, that jig was a gift from Fishstick. :P

The last couple nights on the way to work its been rodent rush hour... Possums, Skunks, Coons you name it... This is always a good sign that theres going to be a salmoniod push... Unfortunetly i've been working like a rented mule... today makes 23 days straight heading for 38 before i get a break... Its killing me too not to get out on our usual 3-4 mornings a week fall pattern... That brown would have been in the photo archives forsure if i would have been there... Sorry about the hook bud... There's a reason why i have switched to the Daichi's and Saseme's, just couldn't stand to throw out the left over eagle claws... Thats one hook that has went WAY down hill... From there trout hooks to the ones they put on the Reef Runners... VERY DISAPPOINTING!!! Last season it cost me several big fish... no excuses just solutions... very impressed with the Daichi's (thanks Skein) and the Saseme's (thanks Josh)... hope to get out sunday am for a fish and gotta find sometime to put some break in miles on the new quad before freeze up... :?

Too bad about the brown Markus. Next time. I see your back to old faithful(spinning gear) and curious whats up with the new centre pin. Once I get a few bows and browns on my spinning outfit I'll be looking to try a centre pin out too. The rate I'm going lately it might be few years before I get to that point. :D

Hoss, I was ledger fishing today and then bottom bounced a bit. I only use the centre pin if I'm working the drifts.

Hopefully I'll convince one of those browns to come out of the water and join me for a picture soon.

:) You bet Mark... The season is coming to a rapid close though.

I've got designs on an outflow trip before it all wraps up and a couple of trib experiences.

I'm definitley going to hit my favourite Huron trib on Rememberance Day. I need another glam Chrome and Poppy shot.
