Musky Action!

Musky Action!

Post by jbarker »

Took my little brother muskie fishing for the first time this morning. Hit the water at about 9 and finished at 1. I caught the first 1 a 29 incher.

Then I missed one that would have went 20 pounds easy. Couldn't engage reel quick enough( he hit as soon as lure hit water). Then I hooked onto a good one which my brother was more than happy to reel in. This one was aroun 38 inches(36 inch tape wasn't big enough) He may not look that big but my brother is a little fella lol.

that was it for the fish other than a few oos bass. But some great scenery was to be had!

Nice fish. Me thinks # 1 might be a pike-muskie hybrid. Are pike present in this waterbody?

I was thinking hybrid too but there aren't really any pike populations. I know there are a few pike in there but they are less than 5 pounds so it could be possible.

hybrid

Hi...interesting.

Well, having only a very few pike among many muskies is one of several ecological situations that are likely to result in mis-matings and hybrids.

Very pretty fish, no matter who its parents were.
