Wow!!! Nice cats. They must put up a really good fight. I have never really gone for big cats like that but would love to try sometime. What kind of rigs do you use for those big cats. Hook, line and sinker pretty much??? I'll have to give them a go some night.

beef liver eh?

my cousin, who is an avid catfish hunter, uses chicken liver, spleen, and just about anything else the grocery store will give him....

is there a current where your fishing?

i've always considered the big channels a light biter (or at least around here they are), so using too much weight becomes a problem...

how much weight you guys using?

Where we fish there is quit the current, either the line slackens, or the rod warps. :D You just need to figure out whats the current and whats a bite.

I use 2 hooks, 1 about a foot up the other about 2 feet from the sinkers. I use 2 7/8 oz sinkers. Berkley 7' med action rod with a quantium reel spooled with 10lb test stren. Bait it with a chunk of fresh liver, sit back and wait for the fiah to come. When you do get one on you're in for a awesome fight. :D

Best of luck to you all

FF, not only a quality report, but some great advice as well!!!

Thanks.

(i like the two hook method...we only run one....with maybe 1/4 ounce of weight...but the current in most parts is none existant....where we do have a strong current, i usually run 1/2 ounce sinker...)

Great Pics!!!
