Free Launches

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Unfortunately most launches that don't require a fee, require you to be extra carefull. Most free launches are not maintained are are hazardous to your boat and car/truck. Most will not have any docking or good parking.

You get what you pay for.

Hey Johnny, in regards to Scugog you have a lot of options.
Caesarea has a public launch with no fee but busy on weekends.
On the Island.....Scugog Island Marina(just north of the casino) charged $9 or $10 but a seasonal would get you in as often as you want for $100. If you want to save a few bucks you can launch at the very northern tip of the island(native reserve) for free but with no docks. Out of Port Perry is a Pay and Display parking lot with a double launch for $5 but gets very busy in the summer especially on weekends.
There is many other launches but these are just the ones I am familiar with.

Depending on where you want to launch you could also call Goreski's(island) or West Shore Marine(Port Perry) and ask them there rates.

As for Pickering at the outflow you can launch off the beach into Frenchmans Bay(shallow) for free or you can go to the marina off Liverpool Rd and pay $15 a launch. When you see how steep the ramp is you'll know why they call it a launch.

we frequent many free launches around Simcoe
Orillia hwy 12 east of the Narrows acrooss from Tudhope park , watch the concrete ramp as it is shallow and drops of at the edge.
Barrie , right in the city at Tiffin street , good ramp but real busy on weekends.
Bradford , south side of hwy 11 east end of town , you can run up the river into Cooks bay .
Gilford next to Kon Tiki Marina , limited parking
Therre are also many concession roads around the lake that terminate at the elake if you have 4x4 and boat isn't too big you can these.

Loosen my purse strings? I carry my money in my pockets. And the hole in my pockets seems to get bigger and bigger. :x

I just figure, why should I pay $15 when I can pay $5 or free?

Just checking out my options :)

I know you get what you pay for but sometimes you pay more and you get the same.

Thanks Hoss. I forgot about that Launch at Cesarea. I've always wanted to fish that side of Scugog. I have fished that pier a few times but not in a boat.
