2020 Ice season, Shirley's bay

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Went yesterday to try out my new auger and tent and ended up with a herniated disc after drilling the first hole... there was 13 inches of ice after scraping the snow off. There's 3 shacks and a truck drove out to one. Will try again once my back heals...

Just wondering how the fishing is going for everyone? I have sadly only made it out once so far when we were setting the hut up. Ended up with 3 12" walleye and a perch...

Any other reports???

Hey! Was out last night. Only a few shacks setup so far. 8-9" of solid black ice where I was. Was also a thin crust of ice on top of some slush, wet boot if you go through, so bring the rubber boots...also the ramp was getting pretty messy. Getting cold this week, so should be making some ice and hopefully freezing all that up.

I'm hoping to get out once this week and again on the weekend. Thinking about moving the hut out, need this cold snap!

Went out on sunday to give it a try, had fun but caught nothing. A fellow fisherman showed me a pic of someone that caught a really nice walleye so i know they're there lol. Where do you buy live minnows from?

Don't forget about Al's Corner store at old highway 17 and Galetta Side Road. Minnows and a great selection of tackle along with hunting supplies.

Update: I just hit "Live Bait Shop" on Roger Stevens Dr. for minnows. Never knew about it but always good to have another option.

I use:
Serge - 90% of time he can get you setup within hours. I have his # in my contacts.
Al's - as mentioned, lots of tackle too
Manotick bait shop - tackle as well
