Walleye fishing within 1.5 hr of Ottawa?

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Walleye fishing within 1.5 hr of Ottawa?

Post by ferrispata »

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
There are 4-6 of us that typically go within 2-3.5 hours over the Canada border (through 1000 islands). And we have gotten tired with the mostly bad fishing where we have been going. Looking for another place within 1.5 hours of Ottawa if possible. Or even within 3 hours of the 1000 Island Bridge. Excluding St. Lawrence river and Bay of Quinte though please.
Thanks.

I'm a little biased, but the Ottawa River, both Lower and Upper probably have the best numbers walleye fisheries around Ottawa with no slot sizes. White Lake and Mississippi Lake also have good reputations for walleye but you have slot sizes to take into consideration if you plan on keeping fish.

Tumblehome Lodge on Crotch Lake is a great place to stay and fish. Boated over 200 walleye in a 2 week span with friends this past July. They do have a slot size but the fishing was great. Awesome bass fishing too.
