31 Mile Lake Whitefish
31 Mile Lake Whitefish
I was talking to my bud tonight who has a cottage on 31 Mile and he said that as of Jan1, 2014 ice fishing will no longer be permitted. As well there was talk of reducing the limit from 5 down to 2 fish. He thought it was a great idea as the lake gets pounded pretty heavy in the winter and he has noticed a big reduction in population in the lake over the last few years. Plus a lot of Greys get caught and have to be released with who knows what kind of mortality rate.
Probably a real good thing for the lake but I'm sure many folks here who ice fish the lake will be disappointed.
Cheers

Re: 31 Mile Lake Whitefish
Nothing supporting that in the regs about 31 Mile.

Lac Poisson Blanc, however is closed for fishing as of Nov 30th.
We will still be hammering the almighty hell out of 31 Mile, that belongs to the people and not the cottagers.

Re: 31 Mile Lake Whitefish
Likely a bunch of cottage owners getting together playing Little Lords...
That being said, this is not to say that some lake associations do good... and even great work. Many do.. but there a bunch of them who just want to try and make the lake they live on their own private domain that no one else can enjoy... just because.
They are not the first and wont be the last bunch to try and get laws and rules enacted due to their agenda. Very few succeed.
Like... the NCC trying to "Outlaw" gas motors on Meech Lake.... LOL!

We'll be hammering it to
Re: 31 Mile Lake Whitefish
Sorry Paul, buddy has been on the lake for over 20 years, so I figure he may have some inside info. Or it could just be local conjecture, but he seemed sure about it.
One thing I am sure about, is that he has never heard of the Amigos.
