First Brookie(s) -- Algonquin Park

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

First Brookie(s) -- Algonquin Park

Post by lapointeric »

Another Algonquin Park trip in the books!

It was cold and wet (especially for one of our guys who took an unscheduled swim on the paddle up). A scary incident that turned into relentless ridiculing...

We basically hunkered down for the night, then the next morning we found a nice quality bit of structure and fished it hard.

We didn't land any beasts (like Craig's speck), but I did catch my FIRST brookie. Then followed it up with 3 more, the last being my PB.

Not a post to write home about, but it was my first brookie, and seeing as the site is just getting back on it's feet, at least it's something!

Cool stuff E! The first one just opened the door for more, congrats!
Good thing you guys were able to laugh off your buddy's dunk and it didn't turn into something worse.
Can't imagine the water up there being that warm yet.

Thanks man... ya we're definitely catching the trout bug.

It could have been bad, if there wasn't 2 guys fishing in a canoe about 200 feet away... the rest of us were in kayaks, and he would have had to swim to shore or something.... the water was ice cold. Of course, right after we got him to shore and he changed into dry clothes, it started to pour!

An eventful trip, for sure.

FANTASTIC!

I have never been to Algonquin Park.

My better half and I have talked about going many times.

Now I have pics to show her to help "convince" her....

Seriously stellar!

Nice speck! Algonquin is a beautiful area, I do lots of backpacking and canoeing
In the park.

It really was... seeing him clinging onto his kayak was a bit worrying... kind of like Leo hanging onto the iceberg in titanic.

Thanks Mike.

Bugs were non-existent. I was bitten more often while packing in Orleans than I was in the park.
