A Jigging Report - January 27

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

A Jigging Report - January 27

Post by Spezza_Fan »

Hey Guys,
I made it out on the river last night for the evening bit around 3:45 with my buddy. We only had 4 tipups (I forgot mine; he usually brings 10) and our jigging rods with a bunch of frozen minnows. We set-up our tipups and drilled about 10 holes for jigging. I was using a 1/4oz. buckshot tipped with a minnow head/tail and my buddy was using a 1/8oz buckshot tipped with the same. We managed 11 fish in all with 9 eyes/saugers and 2 perch. 6 of the eyes were caught while jigging.

I saw this nice 14" follow my buckshot and like Dave Mercer would say "He just did what he's supposed to do. He just ate it".

And a couple of minutes later I landed this one in the same hole!

We kept 8 for the table. 5 were all the same size and the 3 others we an inch or two shorter.

Happy Fishing Guys!

Hahaha!!! Yeah thanks for that! If it wasn't for you, I think I would still be putting up my tent! Whenever you feel like going out let me know!

Nice!!!
There are few problems in life which can not be solved with a well-placed, high-explosive projectile.

nice work, anyone can set up a tip up but being able to consistanly catch fish jigging is the true test of your angling skill.

Well Done!!!

Are you smiling because you are into fish or are you smiling because it's not ten thousand degrees below zero??

Thanks for the report and pics,
