Has anyone been out in the Arnprior area?

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Has anyone been out ice fishing in the Arnprior area?
White lake? Head pond? Madawaska River? Ottawa River? other?

What's it been like?
How's the ice?
Anyone having success?

Be interested in knowing.
Thanks

My buddy has a shack on the Ottawa just outside of Arnprior and he is raking in the walleye and perch. Had a nice pike take his light gear and snap the line last weekend. He figured it was about 6lbs or so but only saw the back of it.
Fishing isn't a matter of life and death....
It's much more important.

There's a bunch a shacks upriver at the mouth of the Bonnechere. Lots of trucks on the ice, easy access and if I'm not mistaken there's a place to buy minnows.

Where about would the access point be for there?
Trying to think, but can't seem to recall. Thanks!

You can get there from the Bonnechere Launch or there is an access road on the other side of the street from Thompson Rd. I think this access road goes beside Towey's Bait. Here's a Google map of the general area.....

Thanks Doug...I wasn't sure if the launch area would be open in the winter.
So basically, you would walk from the launch area down to the Ottawa?

Maybe I'll drop into Towey's and ask for some help (and pick up some minnows at the same time)

Yes. There are snow-mo and ATV tracks on the Bonnechere. Not sure if anyone drives a car/suv/truck off of the launch.

Stopping at Towey's is a good idea. They will tell you the best place to get on the river.
