Vendors: Abu Garcia- Carp Show?

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Vendors: Abu Garcia- Carp Show?

Post by worm31 »

Hey,

Do any of the vendors in the carp show have the new line up of Abu Garcia baitcasters, specifically the "Winch" with the 5:4:1 gear ratio?

Thanks, Ian

Too funny. Same name and I'm heading up to Carp to pick up a new reel, a Revo Winch. :D :D

Ian,
Have fun at the show - hope you find the winch at a decent price. :D

Ian-I have a Winch put aside at Paddletales unless Ian gets it before me.
Ian-I'm sure that someone will have them.

Geez, I feel like I'm talking to myself. :D

I only have 1 Winch left, and it's reserved for Ian D. I will certainly order more in, or you can buy the one of the 5-1 Curados that I have in stock.

Hey

Problem is I'm a lefty and The revo winch is the only left handed reel that comes with a 5:4:1 gear ratio....that I've been able to find. Do I have any alternatives to a winch?

mattdbz29. A buddy of mine was at the Chicago muskie show. Abu Garcia, which is/was pretty big in the muskie fishery, didn't make an appearance this year because too many irate fishermen were confronting them about their product and were bringing in boxes of reels that fell apart on them. Since going chinese their quality has really gone down the tubes.

My reel is safe. I'm a lefty too but use reels with the handles on the correct side. :D
I have quite a few Revos, STX's and Sx's and have never had a problem with them. They are all built offshore and have stood up extremely well and I do not baby my equipment. Do not abuse it either but fish it hard.

Ian,
Did not see you at the show.
Ian,
Picked up the Winch and spooled it up when I got home and tossed a few casts in the park. You definitely want one of these. Sucker tosses a 3/8oz jig a mile.
