SAULT STE MARIE

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

What about fishing on the garden...The native kids used to throw stones at us from shore....Apparently they don't like when people troll over their GILL NETS

Good for you, Bruin. My wife was born in the Soo, as were my kids, and I got plenty attached to the place in the 17 years I was there. I used to take my son down to that square concrete wharf behind the hospitals for pinks in the fall. It was a bit safer than letting a seven-year-old wade those big, scary rapids. Also hit the North Channel tribs for pinks, and the channels around St. Joe Island for smallies and pike. After we moved to Ottawa, we used to make an annual summer visit to Lake Superior Park for specs, scenery and solitude. I miss it, may move back some day myself, but I'm pretty attached to Ottawa and the Mississippi Valley now, too, so it's a tough choice.
I really miss the Soo in the winter. I'll take tons of fluffy, skiable snow over constant ice storms any time.
