Mighty tempted on the Dobyns Mav has
Just checked my bass gear

I have a Loomis IMX rod that is for the same application as this rod

Should I

1) get the Dobyns

Or

2) get E6X heavy crank rod

From my research only (I haven't used an old IMX) the DX is more sensitive that the older IMX rods. But if you already have a good rod, go the cranking route.

Many prefer the older IMX rods to the new ones so there really isn't a need to get rid of it.'

Or do what I would do and sell the IMX, and buy both rods...

I'm getting a good chuckle out of this Jimmy "on the fence". Hehe,it was last year you were kinda riding the "tackle hoes" pretty good about having all the higher end gear. I'm sure you recall lol. Seems like maybe you're starting to lean towards the dark side now.

So I'll ask you the same thing you asked back then. Will that $400 Dobyns really catch you more fish than your Loomis. You still have to be at the right place, at the right time, with the right technique. After that, then sure there a subtleties with the Dobyns that could come into play.

I agree with Mav. Get yourself that heavy cranking rod if you really want to use that technique.

Cheers

LOL Yes I did

Fact is. Most of my rods that I have accumulated over the years are Loomis rods.
A few years back I thinned the herd a bit too much and also had a few break (age, wear and tear etc)
SO I needed to find 3 or so rods to replace beloved ones that broke.

But I gotta say that 743 is slick. Craftsmanship is A-1! I can see why they love em!

You will be required to purchase a Dobyns jersey now :P, stickers for your boat, car, jeep and van
If you get 2 you'll have to get the offical members tattoo.
Maverick has them but I don't want to see where he put it :? :?
