Have a float rod with a kinda bulky tip guide on it thinking to change it to a fly loop instead ... When pitching flipping on small streams get a loop around the tip top guide ... Think a fly loop might tangle less ... Any advice appreciated

Changing a tip-top is relatively straightforward. In the interests of a timely completion, I am deferring to Youtube to provide the instruction if you wish to "tackle" this on your own. Both Bennetts in Smiths Falls and Paddletales in Winchester can change the tip-top for you. All of that said, one of the reasons for the seemingly over sized tip-top on many float rods is to limit ice build-up when steelheading in cold weather. If this isn't a concern, then by all means make the change to better perform for your fishing style.

Hope this helps,

-P
